A great home entertainment system is 40% product choice and 60% setup. The best TV and speaker in the world will disappoint if they're placed badly, wired wrong, or sourced from the wrong input. Getting the setup right is what separates "we have a nice TV" from "our living room is the best in the family".
Here's the complete step-by-step guide to setting up a home entertainment system — TV, tower speaker, wireless mic and sources. Follow it in order.
Step 1: TV placement
Height
The centre of the screen should be at eye level when you're seated. For most sofas, that's about 42 inches (110 cm) from the floor to the centre of the screen. If you wall-mount, measure carefully — this is the most common mistake we see.
Distance from wall
Leave at least 4 inches (10 cm) between the back of the TV and the wall for airflow. Modern LED TVs run cool but still need ventilation to last their full warranty term.
Wall mount vs stand
Wall mount if:
- Your TV is 50 inches or larger — big TVs on stands look overwhelming
- You have kids or pets — safer, no risk of the TV being pulled over
- You want a clean, modern look
Use the included stand if:
- Your TV is 32–43 inches
- You may move the TV within a year
- Your wall isn't suitable for mounting (thin partition walls)

Avoid direct sunlight
Position the TV so no window is directly facing the screen. Even the best HDR panels fight losing battles against direct sun — you'll be squinting during the day.
Step 2: Speaker placement
Tower speakers
Place the two towers (or single tower) so they form an equilateral triangle with your main seating position — same distance from you as they are from each other. Roughly 6–8 feet apart for a normal living room, angled slightly toward the sofa.
Keep them at least 6 inches from the back wall. This prevents boominess and gives the bass room to breathe.
For a single-tower system like the R INFINITY GLIDER or Storm 12000, place it beside the TV, tweeter roughly at ear level when seated.
Twin-tower systems
The R INFINITY Storm 24000 delivers true stereo imaging when placed correctly — one tower to the left of the TV, one to the right, both angled inward toward the main sofa. This is what creates the "you are there" feeling when watching a movie or listening to music.
Bookshelf speakers
The R INFINITY SSG 415BT works best on a shelf or desk at ear level, roughly 6 feet apart, angled toward you.
Step 3: Connect the TV to the speaker
Most modern TVs offer three ways to connect to an external speaker:
- Bluetooth — easiest, wireless, works from any TV with Bluetooth. Slight audio lag possible.
- 3.5mm AUX cable — most reliable, zero lag. Requires the cable.
- Optical / HDMI ARC — best audio quality, but only if both the TV and speaker support it.
For everyday use, Bluetooth is the easiest — pair once and you're done. For serious cinema or gaming, use AUX or HDMI ARC to eliminate any audio lag.
Step 4: Pair the wireless mic (for karaoke setups)
R INFINITY Storm 12000 and Storm 24000 include a wireless mic in the box, pre-tuned to the speaker's frequency. Setup:
- Insert the included batteries into the mic
- Turn on the speaker, wait 5 seconds
- Turn on the mic — it should connect automatically
- Adjust mic volume, echo and speaker volume separately on the remote
If the mic doesn't connect immediately, press and hold the pairing button on the speaker for 3 seconds, then power-cycle the mic.
Step 5: Connect your sources
Streaming apps (Netflix, Prime, Hotstar, YouTube, JioCinema)
Every R INFINITY Smart TV, Google TV and WebOS TV has these pre-installed. Just sign in with your existing accounts.
Cast from your phone
- Android phones + Smart TV / Google TV: Miracast or Chromecast (built-in)
- iPhones + WebOS: AirPlay (built-in)
Set-top box, DTH, gaming console
Connect via HDMI. Use HDMI 2.0 (marked as such) for 4K sources and gaming. Every R INFINITY TV includes at least 2 HDMI ports; our WebOS flagship models include 3.
Step 6: Tune the picture
Every TV ships with an overly-vibrant "showroom mode" picture setting. Change it:
- On WebOS TVs, use Cinema Mode — colours accurate to what the director intended.
- On Google TV / Smart TV, look for "Cinema" or "Movie" mode and pick that as your default.
You'll notice the picture looks slightly warmer at first — that's correct. Give it 30 minutes and the artificial "vivid" mode will look wrong forever after.
Common setup mistakes to avoid
- Wall-mounting too high — the centre of the screen should be at eye level, not above.
- Speaker too close to wall — causes boomy, muddy bass.
- Using default picture mode — always switch to Cinema/Movie mode.
- Skipping a voltage stabiliser — for premium TVs (55-inch and above), use a 5kVA voltage stabiliser to protect your investment.
